Note:  For this hike participants should meet at the entrance to the Greenway on Jasmine Street.  We will depart promptly at 9:00am, maintain a leisurely pace, proceed to the south end and loop back to Jasmine.  This hike is free and open to the public.

About Egans Creek Greenway

The Greenway, located on the northern end of Amelia Island, Florida, was opened for public use in the summer of 2001 as an undeveloped park for passive recreational use.  Funding for land acquisition was provided by Florida Communities Trust and the City of Fernandina Beach.  It consists of over 300 acres of protected lands, managed by the City of Fernandina Beach.  This natural setting with its grass-covered trails is ideal for hiking, biking, dog walking, wildlife and nature observation and photography.

Florida Forever Presents:  Take a Hike, Florida!
Across the state local organizations are sponsored hikes in support of Florida Forever.  The Coalition is celebrating 20 years of successful public land conservation under Florida Forever and its predecessor, Preservation 2000.  The combined programs have protected more than 2.4 million acres of land.

Our Greenway sponsored a hike in the form of its Third Saturday Nature Walk on Feb 20.  Twenty-four participants enjoyed a hike on the Greenway and savored a beautiful morning weather-wise.  To top it all off, the group was treated to a great bobcat sighting!

Attention Birders!  The Greenway is a designated stop on The Great Florida Birding Trail.
