Greenway South Trail Marking Project Completed.

In June, the trail marking project on the south half of the Greenway was completed.  Our Greenway took the lead in both designing the trail marking system and installing the markers, while the City of Fernandina funded the cost of materials.

Two trails, a blue and a red trail have been marked and a map developed.

The trail marking project addresses an often-made request for clearly marked trails on the south half.  The markers in conjunction with the map will help Greenway users, particularly first-time visitors, to explore and enjoy the Greenway more comfortably.

About Egans Creek Greenway

The Greenway, located on the northern end of Amelia Island, Florida, was opened for public use in the summer of 2001 as an undeveloped park for passive recreational use.  Funding for land acquisition was provided by Florida Communities Trust and the City of Fernandina Beach.  It consists of over 300 acres of protected lands, managed by the City of Fernandina Beach.  This natural setting with its grass-covered trails is ideal for hiking, biking, dog walking, wildlife and nature observation and photography.

Bird List Updated! List reformatted and edited.
The Greenway printable bird list has been revised, updated, and reformatted.  The new formatting makes carrying the list on the Greenway more convenient.  The list may be printed double-sided, and then three-way folded.

Several birds previously omitted were added.  Also, several birds were deleted because the changing Greenway habitat no longer attracts them.  Some editing was also done.

We hope the new list makes your Greenway experience even more pleasurable.

Attention Birders!  The Greenway is a designated stop on The Great Florida Birding Trail.
